I was trying to come up with a book to read for my independent reading project, my friend recommended one called “Too Late to Die Young” by Harriet McBride Johnson. This book is Mrs. Johnson’s memoir of her life.  She has a very interesting life because she is a lawyer with Muscular Dystrophy.

In the beginning of the book she explains how when she was little she realized that her condition would be the cause of the death at a young age.  As she gets older, she realizes that she really is getting older, and it is too late to die young, so she might as well live the most productive life she can.  She goes through college, goes to law school and has her own law practice in Charleston, South Carolina.  Throughout the book she talks about her adventures in a power wheel chair, and she has many of them.  She ran for State Senate, went to Cuba for a disability conference and did many other things that many able bodied people won’t do.

I really don’t want to go to law school.  I really don’t want to run for State Senate, or really fight for disability rights either.  But I love this book.  I love that Mrs. Johnson is a productive member of society even though her condition is much more devastating than mine.  Typically...

Summer is a great time to read!  Whether you’re at the beach, out by the pool, or in the shade of a tree, it seems like there’s nothing more rewarding than getting lost in a good book on a lazy summer day.

FHPS Media has put together a list of great books that we’d like to recommend. While we haven’t read them all ourselves, we’ve read several and have heard enough good things about the others to recommend them with confidence. The list contains mysteries, historical fiction, romances, and many other genres. We think that there’s something on this list for everyone and believe that if you take time to read through it,  you’ll find the perfect book. Read More.

If you survive this book review, go read If We Survive by Andrew Klavan. It’s a great book that will appeal mostly to adventure and action book lovers, but mystery fans might get a kick out of it too.  If We Survive has a brilliant story line and will leave you thinking back on it over and over again. And if you're anything like me it will stay with you for a long time. Andrew Klavan really lets you get to know the characters very well. You start to feel like they're your best friends. This book is most definitely going on my favorites list!

And if you liked “If We Survive.”  Look for Andrew Klavan’s other books “The Last Thing I Remember”,  “Nightmare City”, “Crazy Dangerous” and“ A Killer In The Wind”.

(If you don't have a favorite book list start one! They are a lot of fun and you can look back on books and see how much your favorite genres have changed!)
